“My daughter will be able to fully live and communicate”: Sofiia, a 7-year-old from Orikhiv, received state-of-the-art hearing aids from Rinat Akhmetov Foundation
Sofiia is seven years old. The girl and her family evacuated from Orikhiv and now live in Zaporizhzhia. She is in the first grade, but due to bilateral hearing loss, she has difficulty communicating and speaking. Recently, Sofiia received state-of-the-art hearing aids from Rinat Akhmetov Foundation that are customised to the child's needs.
“We are very grateful because we want our daughter to be able to live a full life. It is very difficult for her now. We hope that she will be able to communicate with children and hear fully,” says Alina, the girl's mother.
Sofiia's family lost everything in their hometown: they had to build their lives from scratch and could not afford hearing aids for their daughter
.
“Our centre is very grateful to Rinat Akhmetov Foundation for helping children in difficult situations. You are making the dream of hearing come true; it is a very big deal. Sofiia needs a hearing aid for two ears. It will help with her speech development and improve speech intelligibility,” explains Hanna Yanichkina, audiologist and hearing prosthetist at the Hearing Centre.
Hearing assistance under Rinat Akhmetov to Children. I Can Hear Now project can be provided to children with hearing impairments under the age of 7 who live or have lived in territorial communities in areas of hostilities, occupation, or encirclement.
