The 323rd column with humanitarian aid from Rinat Akhmetov arrives to Mariupol

04.03.2019

On Monday morning, the 323rd truck column from the Humanitarian Headquarters, the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation’s largest program has arrived to Mariupol.

Eight trucks delivered 160 tons of humanitarian aid to a distribution center. This is the food that will be included to survival parcels distributed among the Donbas residents experiencing the biggest hardships: pensioners, children, people with disabilities, families with many children and people living near the combat area. In March, the humanitarian aid from Rinat Akhmetov will be delivered to almost 19 thousand people in total.

‘For the fifth year, the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation has been providing support to civilians in the Donbas region who found themselves one-on-one with their woes. According to a survey held by Kyiv International Institute of Sociology in October-November 2018, 85% residents of the region claim that they would not have survived without Rinat Akhmetov’s help. Almost 62% of Ukrainian citizens also believe that the biggest support to people in the Donbas is provided by the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation’, Mykhailo Katerynchak, Project Head at the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation says.

Distribution of food among civilians will start on 5 March. Mobile distribution crews will deliver survival parcels to 31 villages located near the frontline. In March, the humanitarian aid will also be available at permanent distribution points set up by the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation in Shchastia and Stanytsia Luhanska.

Since the outbreak of the armed conflict, the Foundation has distributed over 12 million survival parcels in the east of Ukraine. Lives of one million people were saved thanks to the help from Rinat Akhmetov.
