The 100th convoy of Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center delivers food products to Donetsk
The 100th convoy delivering food products from Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center arrived in Donbas on September 21 in the evening. 21 heavy-duty trucks delivered 420 tons of food to the logistic centre at Donbas Arena stadium in Donetsk. The humanitarian aid is aimed for civilians living in non-government-controlled areas.
Tomorrow the volunteers of Shakhtar Football Club will start forming 50,000 survival kits out of these food products. Each product unit in the package will be marked with: "Humanitarian Aid. Not for sale" sticker. Soon the food packages will be delivered to the issuing points in non-government-controlled areas.
The truck convoy passed all the checkpoints on its way and custom's inspection with the full package of documents, legalized in compliance with all norms and procedures, according to the current legislation of Ukraine, and confirming the cargo content and the quality of products. There was also the order of the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine on recognition of this cargo as humanitarian. You can see the documents for cargo here.
"A year ago, when sending our first Humanitarian convoy, neither Rinat Akhmetov, nor the Humanitarian Center's employees expected that the aid would be so highly-demanded. Now, after this time, we understand that our food products saved millions lives of people, who were left in the war-time Donbas. Rinat Akhmetov and the Humanitarian Center will help our fellow countrymen as long as they need our assistance", – Rimma Fil, the Humanitarian Center's Coordinator, said.
During the whole period of Humanitarian Center's operation, more than 60,000 tons of food were delivered to logistic centres of Donetsk and Mariupol. The humanitarian aid was issued to the residents of 221 settlements and 21 districts in Donbas on both sides of the contact line. As of September 21, 2015, the Humanitarian Center issued 4, 541,000 adult survival kits and 332,000 children packages.
