Housing for Mariupol Residents: Another 360 Families to Be Accommodated in Hostels for IDPs, which the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation Helped to Furnish
In April of this year, the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation became a partner in the pilot project on new temporary housing for people from Mariupol IAmMariupol. Housing, which has been implemented in Dnipro on the basis of upgraded and refurbished dormitories of Ukrainian universities. The first house accommodated 127 people, 55 of them children, and 7 being children with disabilities. The project is expanding, and the Foundation has engaged in the preparation of the second and third buildings. These two hostels will be able to accommodate 360 families.
Natalya Yemchenko, a member of the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation’s Supervisory Board, emphasizes that people from Mariupol need comprehensive support even before the liberation of the city:
“In order to move ahead, a person needs a home, at least a temporarily one, where he or she could gather their strength and wits. I am proud that we, the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation, are helping to fit out such homes for IDPs from Mariupol here in Dnipro. Both the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation and SCM businesses — DTEK, Ukrtelecom — support the current stages of this project in Dnipro and are ready to support the next ones in other cities. The cooperation between the cities, philanthropists, businesses, and international partners yields the support that Ukrainians deserve, which every day brings us closer to our common Victory.”
In the hostel of the pilot project, the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation fitted out the areas of common use. It furnished some modern furniture and equipment for the hall, co-working space, and the kitchen, as well as some toys and play spaces for the children’s room. In the second and third buildings, the Foundation will again undertake to equip such premises, as well as will set up children’s playgrounds and sports grounds.
The project IAmMariupol. Housing is implemented by the team of Mariupol city mayor Vadym Boychenko at the behest of the Head of Donetsk Military Administration Pavlo Kyrylenko. It is based on a new formula of cooperation. Funding from the French Government goes to the International Organization for Migration, while the Mariupol municipality acts as the customer of the works and prepares the overall terms of reference. This is a new approach in cooperation with international partners, which builds even more open and bona-fide relations.
The Rinat Akhmetov Foundation will take part in the furnishing of the next hostels for IDPs from Mariupol in Ukrainian cities. Follow the announcements on the website:
