Donbas residents are issued 9.5 million humanitarian aid packages

02.09.2016

9.5 million food packages were issued to Donbas residents by Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center. These results were achieved over 25 months of its operation. The aid was received by the most vulnerable categories of civilians: elderly and disabled people, multi-child and foster families, single parents, etc.

To issue this amount of survival kits, the Center sent 241 convoys to Donbas consisting of 5,487 heavy-duty trucks. They delivered more than 109,000 tons of food to Donetsk and Mariupol. From there the packages, that had already been formed, were sent to towns and villages of Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

"The amount of survival kits issued by the Center is not just a number, it represents hundreds of thousands of Donbas civilians' lives. For two years Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center helps people and timely responds to their needs. Often these food products remain the only source of subsistence for people. We know, how much it is needed, how much these packages are being expected in towns on both sides of the contact line and in the frontline villages", – Oleksandr Vyshniakov, Director at Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center, shares.

In September the Center will continue delivering food to Donbas civilians, sending 3-4 truck convoys a week. The schedule for issuing points' operation and mobile teams' trips can be found on the Humanitarian Center's website.
