Statement of Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center due to intensified situation in Avdiivka

31.01.2017

Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center is extremely concerned about the intensified hostilities and humanitarian situation observed on the contact line near Avdiivka, Yasynuvata, Makiivka and certain districts of Donetsk during the last few days. There are reports about injured civilians coming every day.

For two years the Center has been helping injured civilians on both sides of the contact line, and it is ready to help with medications now. The Humanitarian Center's employees contact the victims' relatives every day. If you know the facts of civilian injuries, please call our 24/7 hotline: 0800 509 001.

This morning Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center decided to redirect the mobile team of volunteers, which was originally sent for aid distribution to Bakhmut, to Avdiivka. 800 food packages for adults and 100 for children were delivered to the tent city of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, equipped with heating units and field kitchen.

The Center's representative is in Avdiivka now and being in constant contact with the Ministry of Emergency Situations. We are ready to deliver additional aid in the required quantities. Avdiivka is under the threat of humanitarian catastrophe – its heating system is on the verge of freezing. As of 9 am the temperature outside was -22C. The management of Avdiivka Coke and Chemical Plant, government officials and the Emergencies Ministry are doing their best to save people and the enterprise, as the life of the town depends on it.

Rinat Akhmetov set the goal to the Humanitarian Center: direct the available resources to help civilians, who are caught up in this critical situation.
