More than 5 000 Makeevka residents Have Received the Food Parcels from the Akhmetov Centre During the Week

08.12.2014

In Donetsk a food distribution point at the Druzhba Ice Arena for Makeevka residents has started to operate on December 1. During the first week the volunteers succeed to distribute the humanitarian aid to 5 071 Makeevka residents. The food sets from the Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Centre are available every working day from 10.00 a.m. to 15.00 p.m. according to the criteria and work standards of the Centre.

“Every morning a great queue appears near the Druzhba Ice Arena, - said the volunteer of the Humanitarian Centre Andrey Sanin. – The pensioners, disabled persons and mothers of a large family are forced to come to the ice arena; and the relatives of those people, who are not able to come by themselves as well. For two months all the attempts to open such food distribution points in Makeevka were unsuccessful. The Centre failed to deliver the food sets to the town and work there in accordance with its criteria and standards of rendering assistance. Nevertheless, we hope that we will manage to handle this problem”.

According to the data of the Humanitarian Map for the situation and needs of Regions of Donetsk and Lugansk, the Makeevka residents are badly in need of food: 40% of the pollees admitted this fact.

The Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Centre continues to deliver the specialized sets for children at Donbass Arena for Makeevka-based families with infants. 505 Makeevka children in total have received such sets since October 27.

The delivery of the eleventh humanitarian voyage was completed on December 5. During a week the trucks and refrigerators delivered 243 thousands of food parcels and 28 thousands of sets for children to the storage place at Donbass Arena and to the distribution base in Mariupol.

We remind that Mr Rinat Akhmetov has set his Humanitarian Centre an objective to help civilians of Regions of Donetsk and Lugansk, which suffered due to the conflict. The Centre has already delivered more than a million food sets to the region. Two million food parcels in total are to be delivered by the end of 2014.

The food sets are for use for the disadvantaged groups of civilians (who is allowed to receive the food parcels from the Akhmetov Humanitarian Centre please read here).
