The Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center has saved over a million of human lives for three years

6 August 2014, Rinat Akhmetov made a fateful decision which later saved over a million of human lives. Having combined the efforts of Foundation, Shakhtar Football Club and business assets of SCM Group, he established the Humanitarian Center in order to assist civilians in Donbass affected by the military conflict. At a time when the extent of military operations and human tragedies rapidly increased, only together, by concentrating all the resources and coordinating the actions, it was possible to lend effective help to those who extremely needed it.

Over the last three years of fruitful cooperation, the Center has become the largest humanitarian mission in Eastern Ukraine. There have been created unprecedented system which is aimed to help people. The above system has been based on the best humanitarian practices in the world, as well as on its own algorithms and techniques that have become exemplary.

Since the beginning of military operations, the Center began to evacuate and resettle people from the flashpoint areas. 39462 people were evacuated, among them there were 14784 children. In addition, 6939 people were resettled. Over the years of the Center activities, 6561 vehicles with 131220 tons of products were sent to Donbass.

Nowadays, in the zone of military conflict (on the Ukrainian territorial footprints) there are 25 stationary points and mobile charity teams that deliver food packages to the most remote areas of the near-front zones. 

At the moment, the activities of the Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center is focused on assisting the most socially disadvantaged groups – pensioners, children, large families, disabled people who live on both sides of the demarcation line. At the Center level, there are a lot of programs and projects, such as Aid to the Civilian Community, Targeted Aid, Rehabilitation of Wounded Children, Medicines for Children, Healthy Heart and Peaceful Summer for Donbass Children, thanks to which people receive saving food packages and medical care, children undergo health and psychological rehabilitation.

The activities do not stop even for a minute and the number of people involved in the process of providing aid and receiving it dramatically grows every day. So, at the moment, 1 153 323 people have already received assistance. Over three years, 11 833 951 survival packages have been provided.
