How is the quality of products from the Humanitarian Center inspected? Stage one

04.04.2017

Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center bears responsibility for every food package issued to Donbas civilians. The Center has a smooth-running five-stage system for product quality inspection.

How are the products inspected? What are the terms, criteria and ways of inspection?

The 1st stage is product inspection before purchasing and conduct of laboratory research. When purchasing is being planned, product manufacturers are tested and there is a tender organized between them. Then it is followed by anonymous product investigation in the independent laboratories: physicotechnical (weight indices of a product and the amount of salt in it) and organoleptic (parameters for taste, odour, consistency, colour, absence of impurities).

For example, according to laboratory standards, the high-quality millet shall be bright yellow, have uniformly sized grains of spherical shape with a cavity and mat surface of the cores. The cereal shall not smell like herbs, stale garlic or mould. The taste of high-quality millet shall not be sour or bitter, it also shall not have foreign flavour. Millet shall not have any foreign admixtures, mineral and toxic elements.

Product investigation in laboratory takes an average of 7-14 days. If products meet the standards, the Center receives a certified report with results of the study.
