Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center will provide test stripes for all children with diabetes in Donetsk region

Starting from September 7, 2015, Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center starts issuing test stripe to all insulin-dependent children under 18, living in non-government-controlled areas of Donetsk region.
The test stripes will be provided for children from 0 to 18 years old, who suffer diabetes. They will be distributed in Donetsk.

"Since late August the number of calls from parents, requesting help with test stripes, has increased. We started searching for delivery options and thanks to our volunteers we managed to deliver them. The children's stocks of insulin are running out too. Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center is doing everything to solve the problem with insulin delivery to Donetsk as soon as possible", - Iryna Temerko, the Head of "Targeted Assistance" direction at Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center, shared.

The test stripes are really necessary for children with diabetes for daily checks of blood glucose levels. At the moment these test stripes are sold in non-government-controlled areas at very high prices. 1 insulin dependent child needs 1.5 packages per month, and parents can't afford to purchase it.

In spring 2015, Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center provided 160 children living in non-government-controlled areas with 3-month supply of insulin. Later, the parents, whose children were provided with insulin, addressed the Humanitarian Center again, requesting the test stripes. Since the 1st of June their distribution was planned for all Donetsk children who need them. But due to the difficulties with importing of medications to non-government-controlled areas, it was impossible to deliver the full volume.

To receive the test stripes, please:

• call the Humanitarian Center's hotline (0800 509 001) and leave an application
• prepare the following documents: a copy of passport and identification code of one of the parents, child's birth certificate, a medical certificate proving that the child is ill with diabetes (any certificate indicating the child's diagnosis)
• wait for a call from the Humanitarian Center's employee.

The parents of insulin-dependent children, living in non-government-controlled territory of Donetsk region, can leave their request for test stripes via the Humanitarian Center's hotline: 0800 509 001.
