In Rovenky and Torez the issuing points of humanitarian aid from Rinat Akhmetov resumed their operation.

14.05.2015

Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center is watching for a possibility to open new points of food package issuance in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions and resume the operation of those points that have been in the area of military actions for a long time. This has been announced today during press conference at "Ukrainian News" press center by Rimma Fil, Coordinator of Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center.

"People often call the Humanitarian Center's hotline with requests to open new issuing points in those Donbas towns, where food support is not provided yet due to different reasons, – Rimma Fil said. – We make advances at the earliest opportunity. For example, since April 27, according to the numerous requests of local residents due to acute shortage of food, our issuing point in Torez was reopened". During the first two weeks of operation the point issued 1,639 of adult food packages and 267 children sets. Every month this point is planning to issue over 7,000 survival kits.

Since March, 2015 another point of humanitarian aid issue was reopened in Rovenky, which was closed for a long time due to active military actions. In total, from the beginning of Humanitarian Center operation in this town, they issued 12,513 food packages for adults and 3,795 sets for children. In May they are planning to issue 3,000 adult packages and 500 children baskets.

"Behind these dry figures there is a hard everyday work of the Humanitarian Center's volunteers and those convoys with the most essential products that are formed in different parts of Ukraine and sent to Donbas, where the military actions are going on and people are suffering. By order of Rinat Akhmetov we will continue helping civilians of Donetsk and Luhansk regions until the peace comes back", – the Humanitarian Center's Coordinator says.

The operation geography of aid issuing and delivery points includes 19 districts and 61 towns of Donbas. Please note that work schedules are subject to change in case of changes in delivery schedule of food packages to the points of issuance, and also due to escalation of the situation in the region. An operative closing of some issuing points is possible in case of a threat to security of civilians and volunteers.
