Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center sends its 250th convoy to Donbas on the International Day of Peace
Today, on September 21, 2016, Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center sent its 250th convoy with humanitarian aid to Donetsk.
21 twenty-ton trucks are delivering 420 tons of food to the Center's logistic warehouse at Donbas Arena. According to the plan the convoy will go through customs and fiscal control at Novotroitske checkpoint during the day.
"Today is the Day of Peace. It is symbolic that we send 21 trucks on September 21. This is the 250th convoy with humanitarian aid for Donbas residents. Peace is the most desirable thing for the people, whom we deliver food. Elderly people and children cannot take care of themselves. Even back in the peaceful times they often needed support, but when the war started, they simply have to survive. Regular assistance from Rinat Akhmetov is the only thing they can rely on these days", – Maksym Rovinskyi, the Head of External Communications Department at Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center, shared.
From the delivered volume of aid volunteers will form 50,000 adult food packages.
Over two years of its operation the Humanitarian Center sent 5,660 trucks with food to Donbas. If to put them all in a line, it will stretch from Donetsk to Mariupol. Over this period of time the convoys delivered more than 113,000 tons of food to the Center's logistic warehouses in these cities. The work is organized systematically, so that people are issued humanitarian aid on time and in the most comfortable conditions for them. Every month food packages are received by 400,000 elderly, disabled people, single parents and eight more of the most vulnerable categories of population.
As of September 21, 2016, Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center issued 9,734,000 survival kits on both sides of the contact line.
