«Now I know that Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center saves children’s lives in Donbas», — says mother of a little girl from Donetsk

16.04.2015

UAH 106,500 were allocated by Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center to provide treatment for 15 peaceful residents of Donbas through 13-17 of April as part of Targeted Assistance program.

During the week the Humanitarian Center provided medical support with surgeries and urgent treatment for seven adults - the peaceful residents of Donetsk and Luhansk regions. Severe oncological and cardiovascular diseases, kidney and spinal diseases are the diagnoses of those people, who addressed for the help and had no possibility to cope with this problem on their own.

An urgent assistance was also required for eight children from Donetsk and Luhansk regions. All of them were provided with pharmacological support for making surgeries and treatment of chronic and congenital diseases, bronchial asthma, and convulsive disorder.

It should be noted that Humanitarian Center continues receiving a lot of requests from families with epileptic children for purchasing anticonvulsants. This is due to the fact that state program of pharmacological support for such patients in ATO area is not functioning for over six months, and parents have no possibility to purchase expensive and deficit medications in Donbas.

Galina and her 14-year old daughter Lera, who suffers epilepsy, belong to this category. "In peacetime in Donetsk we used to get in line at a pharmacy at midnight to catch anticonvulsants. The state program was functioning back then. And now nobody cares of epileptic children from Donbas, - Galina shares. – Doctors from Slovyansk, where we live now, shared that Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center is saving lives of many Donbas children by purchasing medications. They purchased anticonvulsants for my daughter Lera for a few months".

Also the Humanitarian Center keeps supporting children from Donetsk and Luhansk regions, who were injured in the course of military actions. This week Humanitarian Center's specialists provided a 12-year-old boy Kirill from Horniak, Donetsk region, who got severe shrapnel wound to abdomen, with medications that are required for post-operative treatment.

It bears reminding that every week the expert council of Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center makes decisions on allocation of financial aid for urgent treatment and purchasing of medications for peaceful residents of Donetsk and Luhansk regions and internally displaced persons, who leave their applications over the Center's hotline (0800 509 001) and via email: [email protected].

More details on getting Humanitarian Center's assistance in medical treatment are available here. Please note: assistance is provided only upon availability of medical certificate.
