“The world needs to see this”: TV presenter and actor Oleksiy Sukhanov shares his impressions of the VOICES Exhibition of The Museum of Civilian Voices by Rinat Akhmetov Foundation
The VOICES Exhibition is underway in Kyiv, opening the multimedia space of The Museum of Civilian Voices by Rinat Akhmetov Foundation, which has already collected more than 100,000 stories from Ukrainians about the war. Many of these stories were submitted to the Museum by its ambassador, TV presenter and actor Oleksiy Sukhanov, who recently shared his impressions of what he saw at the exhibition.
Attention: There are only two weeks left to visit the exhibition. Visit for free until the end of May at the following address: 7 Bohdana Khmelnytskoho Street, Kyiv (Museum of the History of the City of Kyiv). Free curatorial tours take place every Saturday at 3 pm.
“This exhibition should travel across Europe, America, and the world in general. My only doubt is that people there will feel the same way as we do, if only because they have not yet faced the war. I have a great hope that they will really understand that if they do not support Ukraine more actively now, they will find themselves in the same situation,” Oleksiy emphasises.
The presenter stressed the importance of collecting stories about Ukrainians' experiences, recording and analysing past and present events, for the sake of a brighter future and for the sake of Ukraine's true independence. Oleksiy Sukhanov is convinced that The Museum of Civilian Voices by Rinat Akhmetov Foundation does exactly this.
“It is extremely necessary to do this so that a certain part of citizens, thanks to the centuries-old wisdom of Ukraine, realise that they need to grow up, what independence, critical thinking, and the function of analysis of each of us should be,” the host is convinced.
Oleksiy noted that by documenting everything that is happening, Ukrainians would prevent anyone from interpreting events in their own way and - very importantly - would move away from russian narratives, having a chance to heal from their murderous influence. «History, statistics, and the church are crutches for any government.
If each of us does not recover here, we will go back to another tragic circle, and I doubt that we will be able to save Ukraine and rise again. You cannot pay with your children's lives every time," said Oleksiy Sukhanov.
Every story about the war is important.
