"We hope for the best": Rinat Akhmetov Foundation helps to treat a seriously wounded resident of Pokrovsk

23.01.2024

The family of Artem and Kateryna from Pokrovsk has had two events since the start of the great war: a very good one and a very sad one. The family was happy to have a son... A few months later, Artem came under rocket fire. He suffered a severe head injury and was in a coma... Rinat Akhmetov Foundation helps with his treatment by funding an implant for an important surgical intervention.

"The Foundation helped me a lot and did not refuse my request. I am taking the medicines prescribed by the doctors and waiting for the surgery," Artem says. It is still very difficult for him to speak.

The man worked in the Pokrovsk gas emergency service. That day, after the first rocket attack, he went to eliminate the consequences of a gas leak. No one expected the enemy to strike again... Artem had to be airlifted to a hospital in Dnipro in serious condition.

"He was saved by a miracle... He did not regain consciousness for a long time. Now, he has started eating and walking on his own. I saw a post on social media about help from the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation. I wrote to them. I got a callback. They helped me buy a plate," says Kateryna.
It is an implant - an individual titanium plate to close the skull injury. Kateryna is sure that her husband survived because he could not leave his family. He is supported by his wife, parents, and son. They all hope for the best.

Under the programme "Treatment and Rehabilitation of Wounded Adults," the Foundation provides assistance to Ukrainians who have suffered from hostile shelling of residential areas: treatment, rehabilitation, psychological assistance, etc.
