«Grey zone»: 68,000 people received humanitarian aid from «mobile» volunteers

23.11.2015

68,770 food packages were issued to civilians of a so-called "grey zone" in Donetsk region. Mobile volunteer teams of Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center have been delivering aid to people for six months.

Over the whole period of their work the volunteers visited 190 villages and small towns, having passed the total of more than 32 thousand kilometres. The humanitarian aid is provided to the most vulnerable categories of civilians: elderly and disabled people, families with many children, single parents, etc.

"The volunteers of Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center deliver humanitarian aid to the so-called "grey zone", which was formed after withdrawal of weapons on both sides of the contact line. Now this is one of the main goals in our work. Assistance with food is much demanded there, and we'll keep on providing it, because no other humanitarian mission had a chance to deliver aid to the population of these towns", – Oleksandr Vyshniakov, the Humanitarian Center's Director, shares.

The mobile teams of Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center issued humanitarian aid in eight raions of Donetsk region on both sides of the contact line. These are Yasynuvata, Volnovakha, Artemivsk, Marinka, Amvrosiivka, Shakhtarsk, Telmanove, Novoazovsk raions and the town of Dzerzhynsk.

"We pay special attention to civilian residents on the contact line. They suffer regular shelling, there is no heating, electricity or sometimes connection there. The local food stores have interruptions with deliveries due to the broken roads, but many of the available products the population can't afford. The volunteers of Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center will continue issuing humanitarian aid and visiting new villages", – Yevheniia Rzaieva, the Head of Humanitarian Aid direction at Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center, shared.

The mobile issuance project was launched in May 2015. Mobile food delivery from the Humanitarian Center allows helping people in remote settlements, where it's not always possible to open a fixed issuing point.
