“The hand will function again: Rinat Akhmetov Foundation helped treat a seriously injured resident of Kramatorsk

That day, an enemy shell exploded over the heads of Vitalii and his wife. The woman died on the spot, he was seriously injured. I have had many surgeries, including reconstruction of my arm bone. The Rinat Akhmetov Foundation provided funding for the materials needed to restore Vitalii’s health.
I recently had my fifth surgery, an implant and a plate were placed in my arm. I want to thank to the Foundation, this is a very significant support for me, because now I am not working, and my son is finishing school," says Vitalii, a resident of Kramatorsk.
The military provided him with first aid after the shelling — Vitalii remembers how one of them reported from the scene of the tragedy that "there are one wounded, one dead." It is still difficult for Vitalii to talk about the death of his beloved wife.
We’ve been together our whole lives, dating since we were 15. I’m trying to replace my son’s mother, but of course that’s impossible. The cast will be removed at the end of January, so I plan to work out to restore functionality so that my hand can work again, says Vitalii.
As part of the "Treatment and Rehabilitation of Wounded Adults" program, the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation provides assistance to civilian residents of Ukraine who have suffered as a result of enemy shelling: this is treatment, rehabilitation, and psychological assistance. Since 2014, the Foundation has provided treatment and rehabilitation assistance to over 11,000 Ukrainians.
