“Rinat Akhmetov to children!”: half a million gifts

On the New Year’s Eve, the students of the Center for Social and Psychological Rehabilitation of Children in Kramatorsk took part in the “Rinat Akhmetov to children!” campaign, which has been going on for 17 years already. Over the past three years, thanks to this good tradition, more than half a million little Donbas residents have received New Year's gifts. This year, Rinat Akhmetov’s gifts have brought joy to about 100 thousand children, including 6,000 orphans, children from boarding schools and family-type children's homes.

Boys and girls of Kramatorsk aged 4 to 15 years received warm blankets - for children from the Rehabilitation Center it is extremely important to feel the warmth, care and attention that these guys were deprived of.

“After all, they come from dysfunctional families, where they were deprived of the opportunity to develop properly,” the Director of the Center Tetiana Vernyhora said. “Therefore, our first task was to make here the territory of childhood, where it's just good to be, where a child was neither offended, nor humiliated.”

A number of specialists are involved in working with the kids: psychologists, rehabilitation specialists, social workers. There are bright colours in the rooms and lots of toys. And the children have real holidays.

“We are here to congratulate the children and present them with gifts from Rinat Akhmetov. Children are delighted and happy, they are thankful for any manifestation of care. Children who found themselves in a difficult life situation believe in a bright future,” Natalia Baryshpolska, the head of “Say No to Orphanhood!” programme of Rinat Akhmetov Foundation, said.
