Over 2,000 nursing mothers used the consultation of Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center
After the content of children packages was renewed, more than 2,000 nursing mothers called the Humanitarian Center's hotline to ask for a consultation and share their feedbacks. Women are asking for more details on new package content, the reason of changes and ask for consultations on breastfeeding and its advantages. 60% of the applicants live in Donetsk, a lot of calls are also coming from Makiivka, Horlivka and Torez.
Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center supported the initiative of UNICEF and the World Health Organization on breastfeeding promotion among the mothers who suffered due to Donbas conflict.
"In this situation it is very important to take care of high-quality nutrition of nursing mothers, so they could get all the necessary food products and secure healthy nutrition for their babies. This was the main reason for food package replacement. Three weeks after the changes we see that young mothers are happy with the new product selection", – Yevheniia Rzaieva, the Head of "Humanitarian Aid" direction, says. – The Humanitarian Center continues to improve its assistance. All the hotline operators and 85 volunteers at the issuing points were trained on breastfeeding and give qualified consultations to young mothers now. The consultations will be provided to 50,000 women-recipients. Together with food packages they are getting information booklets with answers to their questions".
What do the children food packages from Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center consist of?
All babies from 0 to 11 months old are offered two types of packages to choose:
Mother's food package. The new food package is aimed to enhance a nursing mother's nutrition. It can be received at our issuing points. Its composition: buckwheat and wheat grits, oat flakes, sunflower oil, sugar and condensed milk.
Baby formula set (if a mother switched for artificial feeding). By request of a mother the baby formula set is issued instead of food package. The decision on choosing one of the two sets is accepted by the recipient. It is possible to change the set type only once: from food package to baby formulas.
Children from 12 to 35 months old are gradually switching for a "grown-up menu", that is why their food package contains the most essential products: semolina and buckwheat, oat and corn flakes, pasta, condensed milk, cookies or gingerbreads/bagels/straws (breadsticks).

During the whole period of its operation, Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center has issued more than 385,000 food packages for babies to families with children from 0 to 35 months old, both in non-government-controlled areas and peaceful settlements of Donbas.
