#HelpToSurvive: a new social initiative is started is Ukraine

21.09.2015

Today, on September 21, Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center launches the series of social videos as part of the national campaign #HelpToSurvive. The goal of the initiative is support of the most vulnerable groups of the population (children, elderly people, people with special needs), who are left in trouble in the East of Ukraine.  The video shows children from all Ukraine answering simple questions: from "What is happiness for you?" to "Should one help random people who are in trouble?" .

"#HelpToSurvive encourages people to help each other. Helping others to survive is not difficult. Sometimes it is just enough for a person in trouble to know that there are people who are aware of his/her problems and want to help, – Natalya Yemchenko, the member of Supervisory Board at Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center, said. – Help people with a kind word, contribution, volunteering, things, food, money.  Help people on both sides of the contact line".

According to the United Nations, there are more than 3.2 million Ukrainian citizens that need help across the contact line, more than 500,000 of them are children. According to the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, the number of internally displaced persons exceeds 1.3 million people.

"The amount of information that falls on people does not give them a chance for a sober view of the situation. Especially if these people and their families are not directly related to the events in the East of Ukraine. That is why we asked children for help. We honestly asked the kids' opinions on what would they feel if they faced the situation that the residents of Eastern Ukraine are facing at the moment and got very honest and screaming answers, – Rimma Fil, the Humanitarian Center's Coordinator, shared. – We invite everyone, who cares about the destiny of people in distress, to contribute".

The videos are publicly available on the Internet, any of you can help sharing them.

The partner for video creation was the team of Art management agency, which specializes in social and cultural projects.

Other partners of #HelpToSurvive: the initiative group "Responsible Citizens", charitable organizations "Right for Heath", "Ukrainian Forum of Charity Providers", representative office of the charitable organization "Hope and Homes for Children" in Ukraine.
