A point issuing food packages of the Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center to civilians of the frontline Zhovanka was under fire
A mobile issuance point of the Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center in the frontline Zhovanka was under the fire yesterday evening on May 11, 2018. Mobile teams of the Humanitarian Center delivered survival kits to civilians of Bakhmutka, Peski-2 and Zhovanka.
"Everything was all right before coming to Zhovanka. We have about 120 beneficiaries in Zhovanka, mostly people of old age. We were about to finish the issuance of survival kits, when the issuance point suffered a grenade attack. By a lucky chance there were no victims", said Mikhail Katerynchak, head of the "Assistance to the Population" program of the Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center.
About 250 people reside in the frontline Zhovanka. 120 inhabitants of the village belong to the most unprotected categories of the population and regularly receive assistance from the Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center.
"Since 2014, the Humanitarian Center issues food packages to the neediest civilians of Donbas. Risking their lives, mobile teams regularly deliver survival kits to the "gray" zone along the line of demarcation during almost four years. People there live in very difficult conditions: constant shelling, destroyed houses and infrastructure, lack of transport communication, pharmacies and shops. People simply cannot survive without this assistance", - Mikhail Katerinchak highlighted.
