A boy from Donetsk received a food package #400,000 from Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center
Today, on the 26th of November, the children package #400,000 was issued in Donetsk. It was received by Vania, a two-year-old boy, who regularly comes with his mother to the issuing of Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center located in Kuibyshevsky district.
"My baby has been receiving humanitarian aid since last summer. We never left the city during the war for family reasons. We suffered some very difficult and scary times. But, fortunately, our Vania has always been fed and healthy. And this is the most important thing for us", – Natalia, the boy's mother, shares.
Every 35 days the aid from Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center is received by 30,000 children from 0 to 35 months old, living in peaceful and non-government-controlled areas of Donbas. Children packages are the most demanded in the following towns: Donetsk, Makiivka, Shakhtarsk, Khartsyzk, Horlivka and Yenakiieve.
"Helping children is one of the main goals that were set by Rinat Akhmetov to the Humanitarian Center. Every day we issue more than 1,000 children packages. We want Donbas babies to grown healthy and happy, despite all the difficulties that their parents had to face", – Oleksandr Vyshniakov emphasises.
The quality of newborns' nutrition has a direct influence on their future development, that's why the Humanitarian Center is paying special attention to the content and quality of children food packages, as well as frequency and timeliness of their issuance.
"Without paying special attention to the healthy nutrition of babies and nursing mothers we can face a bigger problem later, as time passes. The Center's team is always aimed at improving our aid. This is a personal motivation of our employees. That's why we changed our approach to the issuance of children packages and their content", – Oleksandr Vyshniakov, Director of Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center, says.
As a reminder, Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center joined the initiative of the UN Children's Fund (UNICEF) and the World Health Organization on breastfeeding promotion among the mothers who suffered due to Donbas conflict. That is why the babies from 0 to 11 months old were offered two types of food packages to choose: a set for nursing mother's maintenance or a set of baby formulas (when artificial feeding). Children from 12 to 35 months old are gradually switching for adult nutrition and receive the corresponding food packages.
