Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center provides health-improving vacation for 2,700 Donbas children

08.07.2015

Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center is planning to provide heath-improving vacation for 2,700 Donbas children. 2,200 of them will be sent to children summer centres, located in non-government-controlled areas of Donbas. And 500 children will improve their health in Fakel summer camp in Berdiansk.

"In summer Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center has focused the maximum attention on the work with children. For this matter we established the program "Peaceful summer for Donbas children", which is working in two directions. We open two shifts in one of the best children summer camps on the coast of Azov Sea. This is Fakel summer camp in Berdiansk. The Humanitarian Center invites children from non-government-controlled areas of Donbas and internally displaced children to come over to this place. For those children, who cannot arrive at Ukrainian territory on different reasons – their parents are scared to let them go, they have no permit or no money for bus fare, – they are welcome to visit children summer centres that are opened in Donetsk, Yenakiieve and Khartsyzk. These centres will work according to the principle of our old school camps, where children come to spend the day", – Rimma Fil, the Coordinator of Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center, tells.

On the 6th of July we opened children summer centres in three towns – Donetsk, Yenakiieve and Khartsyzk. One more centre will be opened in Komsomolsk on the 20th of July. The employees of these summer centres are planning to organize talent contests, literature clubs and dancing flash mobs for children. Children will be taught the rules of behaviour in emergency situations. There are also Humanitarian Center's psychologists working in the summer centres.

On the 12th of July the first shift starts in Fakel recreation camp. Acceptance of applications for the first shift has been completed, but the registration for the second shift is continuing (July 26 - August 8). Children will be accompanied by professional educators, counsellors, and a team of psychologists who will work with them and through outdoor games and art therapy will help to cope with fears and anxiety caused by the war. Children will be provided with interesting and various leisure activities.

"The goal of the Humanitarian Center is to provide our young fellow countrymen with peaceful and happy summer days. The program "Peaceful summer for Donbas children" is very important for Rinat Akhmetov. Helping children and taking care of them has always been among his main priorities, – Rimma Fil emphasized.
