Humanitarian aid for local residents and IDPs in Schastia
Since July 11 an issuing point of Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center was reopened in Schastia, Luhansk region. During the first day after the operation had been resumed, the volunteers issued food packages to 390 residents.
"For the first time the Humanitarian Center delivered food packages to Schastia in August 2014. There were many IDPs from the whole Luhansk region, their number was increasing with further deterioration of the situation in the region. The town and its suburbs also suffered frequent shelling, there were serious interruptions with food supplies. Many people there still need humanitarian support. Our issuing point will be operating for a week", ‒ Natalia Baryshpolska, the Head of 'Humanitarian Aid' direction at Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center, shared.
The first 2,000 food packages for residents of Schastia were delivered by the Center in late August 2014. The humanitarian aid is issued to local residents and IDPs of the most vulnerable categories. "Food packages are a great support for us now. My son has disability of the first category, the lying-down case. Most of the pension is spent for expensive medications. Since I take care of my son and not working, humanitarian aid is essential for us", ‒ a local resident Tetiana shares her story.
As of today the Humanitarian Center issued more than 29,000 food packages to Schastia residents, 1,500 of them were issued for babies under 35 months old.
The Center's issuing point in Schastia is located at: 10, Myru str., the building of the local Palace of Culture. The packages can be received from 9:00 till 14:00.
As of July 12, 2016, Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center issued more than 8,823,000 adult and children survival kits on both sides of the contact line.
