Grigory Koldunov: «We are waiting for today’s decision of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the admission of humanitarian goods»

16.06.2015

Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center is ready to send a convoy with food products for Donbas civilians living in non-government-controlled areas on June 17 already, and waiting for the required permits for its convoy to pass through checkpoints in "B" and "C" sectors.

"Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center is waiting for decision of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the admission of humanitarian goods across the contact line. The possibility of sending convoys with food products from Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center from Kurakhove to Donetsk on the 17th of June depends on this decision. We hope that the situation with crossing the contact line will be resolved soon, and clear rules and mechanisms for humanitarian aid delivery will be worked out. And civilians, who are staying in non-government-controlled areas of Donbas will get the necessary food products promptly and without interruptions", – Grigory Koldunov, Director of Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center, said.

It is known that due to closed checkpoints in "B" sector and denied access for food convoys to "C" sector in Artemivsk on June 13 by "Patriot" battalion, Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center cannot deliver food products to the most vulnerable categories of civilians residing across the contact line. As of today, 175,000 food packages for adults and 22,000 children packages are not delivered to that area.

As of the 16th of June, 23 out of 30 issuing points in non-government-controlled areas of Donetsk and Luhansk regions are not working, the issuing points in Donetsk are closed for the second day.

Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center sent a statement on the blocked access of humanitarian aid for Donbas civilians across the contact line to Ukrainian representative offices of the international missions.
