The Rinat Akhmetov Foundation and FUIB transferred a modern ventilator to Clinical Hospital No. 4 in Kyiv

03.12.2020

Kyiv City Clinical Hospital No. 4 received a modern ventilator from the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation and FUIB.

"Ventilators were the most significant equipment Ukrainian doctors required. Despite the shortage of high-end medical equipment in the world, the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation managed to purchase and bring it to Ukraine within the framework of the project Fighting COVID-19 in Ukraine. About 190 high-end ventilators have already been delivered to the main state hospitals in the regions of the country," Natalya Yemchenko, member of the Supervisory Board of the Foundation, said.

As explained by the head of FUIB   Kyiv Regional Center, Ihor Padalko, it is necessary to combine all efforts to save the lives and health of Ukrainians these days:

"When Ukraine faced a pandemic, Rinat Akhmetov was the first to come to the rescue of the country. He combined the resources of the Foundation, FUIB, DTEK, FC Shakhtar and other SCM assets. Consequently, UAH 300 million were allocated to help the country fight the coronavirus. This is the largest contribution made by one philanthropist to help state medicine.”

According to the chief physician of the hospital, Tetiana Mostepan, today was a really special day for doctors:

"We deeply appreciate what the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation and FUIB have done to support us. This ventilator will be crucial to save more lives in the intensive care unit.”

Head of the Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Unit, Yuliia Vakulenko, added that a significant number of patients need medical equipment of this level:

"The new ventilator will allow you to deploy additional space in the intensive care unit and save more lives. We are very grateful."

Earlier, the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation held two online conferences for doctors operating ventilators. Those were three-hour webinars where the leading experts of the Ministry of Health told the doctors of public hospitals the world's best practices in the treatment of COVID-19 and some details when operating the latest models of ventilators. Almost 2,000 Ukrainian doctors took part in online training from the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation. Doctor of Hospital No. 4 in Kyiv, Kateryna Marushko is among them. On behalf of the Foundation, she was awarded a certificate of online training.

Fighting COVID-19 in Ukraine became part of the Foundation's program Rinat Akhmetov – Saving Lives. Starting in February, the Foundation has been transferring the necessary equipment and supplies not only to large clinics in regional centers, but also to small hospitals in remote villages and towns. Along with ventilators, doctors have already received more than 200,000 personal protective equipment and supplies, as well as 337,000 rapid tests. Over a 1,000 units of medical and laboratory equipment were also purchased and delivered to regional support hospitals.
