«Thank you very much for the course»: a seriously injured resident of Konstiantynivka underwent rehabilitation from Rinat Akhmetov Foundation
Nina Anatoliivna was at work when the attack happened. An enemy shell severely injured her and took away her ability to walk. A course of physical and psychological rehabilitation from Rinat Akhmetov Foundation at a health resort in Transcarpathia became a significant step towards adaptation and recovery for the 59-year-old woman from Kostiantynivka.
«Everyone here is very attentive, polite and hospitable. I would like to express my gratitude to the Foundation for helping me to get here and take the course», says Nina, without holding back her emotions.
The woman had to go through a difficult ordeal: weeks in intensive care and months in hospitals because the fragment damaged her back and internal organs. All this time, her daughter, Iryna, was also fighting for her mother's health.
«She was bedridden, not moving. Since then, we have been taking small steps every day. My friend saw an announcement that Rinat Akhmetov Foundation was helping wounded civilians. I called... Thank you for the opportunity to come here", says Nina's daughter Iryna.
Nina is now at the stage of rehabilitation that will help her to be as independent as possible.
«We are working on increasing her muscle strength and wheelchair riding technique. This will directly affect her mobility. At the beginning of our work, the patient was a little depressed. But now she can perform more tasks on her own, and this affects her condition», — comments Oleksandr Sokolenko, physical therapist and rehabilitation specialist.
As part of the Treatment and Rehabilitation of Wounded Adults programme, Rinat Akhmetov Foundation provides assistance to Ukrainians who have suffered from hostile shelling of residential areas: treatment, rehabilitation, psychological help, etc.
Since 2014, the Foundation has provided treatment and rehabilitation to over 11 thousand Ukrainians.
