"The help is very important to us": evacuated residents of Sumy region receive food packages from Rinat Akhmetov Foundation

20.08.2024

The humanitarian aid is being distributed in the shelter in Sumy. People who have recently evacuated from Khotin, Bilopillia, Krasnopillia, Yunakivka, Myropillia communities of Sumy region are receiving food packages from Rinat Akhmetov Foundation.

Volunteers coordinating the evacuation say that the frontline situation in the region is currently difficult:

"People are leaving the 10-kilometre zone because it is dangerous to stay there due to constant shelling. Given all the circumstances, food aid is a necessity in the current situation," said Vitaliy, the evacuation coordinator.

Each food package contains pasta, sugar, salt, flour, cereals, sunflower oil, canned beans, stewed meat, pate and biscuits.

"There was very heavy shelling and we left with our children. We took nothing from home - only documents and the most necessary things. So the help is very important, thank you for it," says a resident of Velyka Rybytsia, a village in Myropillia community.

Since the beginning of 2024, the Foundation has donated more than 10,000 food packages to Sumy region.

Since 2014, the Foundation has provided 13 million food packages to Ukrainians. The aid is provided under Rinat Akhmetov Saving Lives programme.
