"Endlessly grateful for helping the child": 2.5-year-old Zhenya from Odesa receives modern hearing aids from Rinat Akhmetov Foundation
Little Zhenya from Odesa was born prematurely and with complications. The boy was diagnosed with cerebral palsy. A hearing test showed that Zhenya needed to use hearing aids. His father, a rescuer and liquidator of the aftermath of enemy attacks, is raising his son without a mother, so it would be difficult for him to provide the child with expensive hearing aids. Rinat Akhmetov Foundation helped 2.5-year-old Zhenya receive state-of-the-art hearing aids that can be adjusted to the child's specific needs.
"When it became apparent that he was hard of hearing, we checked and realised that we had a new problem. We found the phone number of the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation. We were approved for hearing aids. We are extremely grateful because now we are in a situation where we don't have enough money for anything. We will try hard, and we will succeed - we will cope," says father Oleksiy.
Oleksiy's mother and Zhenya's grandmother, Olena Anatoliyivna, helps to raise the baby. The woman admits that it was difficult to realise and accept the child's special health needs, but the Foundation's help made it possible to overcome this milestone.
"It moves us forward: to learn, to hear the world, to feel emotions, to live on, to move. It is difficult; it is not easy. But it's worth living for. Everything is done quickly and smoothly. The whole team is working. I am very grateful as a person, as a grandmother," says Olena.
Hearing assistance under the Rinat Akhmetov to Children. I Can Hear Now! project can be provided to children with hearing impairments under the age of 7 who live or have lived in territorial communities in areas of hostilities, occupation, or encirclement.
