Andrii Bosenko dreams of living a full life

02.09.2017

The hostilities do not cease on the territory of Donbas. Civilians, including old people, women and little children, suffer from shelling and scattering shell fragments. The trouble may happen in any family living in the immediate battle area. People risk their lives every day and do not know what will happen tomorrow.

Once a school student from Zugres Andrii Bosenko found himself one pace away from death. A shell exploded next to the boy. Andrii together with his friends found a cluster bomb, and then an explosion thundered. Two friends of Andrii's died on the spot, and he was wounded in the head with a fragment. The shell also pierced boy’s arms and legs. According to Andrii's mother, the son narrowly escaped death.

Andrii Bosenko was diagnosed with a craniocerebral injury. The teenager spent three months in intensive care unit, where he underwent several complicated operations. The Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Centre provided the assistance with the boy’s rehabilitation having done everything necessary to save Andrii's life.

"Many thanks to Rinat Leonidovych for having saved our child! He was the first to help and provide us with all the necessary medications for surgery and treatment. Without this, the doctors would hardly be able to save him," Andrii's mother Viktoriia Bosenko confided. "Thanks to Rinat Leonydovych and the medications provided in time, the child survived."

Nearly three years have passed since the tragedy. Today Andrii can hardly speak and learns to walk anew. Mud baths, massages and muscle development are vitally necessary for the injured guy. Andrii exercises a lot and is eager to return to a full, healthy life. In order to speed up the process of the boy’s rehabilitation, the Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Centre bought a ticket to one of the health resorts in Sloviansk for Andrii.

"The wounded children from the Donetsk and Luhansk regions can get assistance under the "Rehabilitation of injured children" program. The course of rehabilitation, lasting 21 days, is held in one of the rehabilitation centres of Ukraine. Helping the injured children is one of the main tasks of the Humanitarian Centre, set by Rinat Akhmetov 3 years ago," said Oleksandr Vyshniakov, the director of the Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Centre.
