63 convoys with humanitarian aid have already been sent by Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center to Donbas
Over 8 months of operation Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center sent 63 convoys and 2 028 heavy trucks with humanitarian aid to elderly citizens, disabled people and other benefit-entitled peaceful residents of ATO area and IDPs. 17 Humanitarian Aid Drives were organized to deliver this aid.
Starting from August 22, 2014 till April 15, 2015 Humanitarian Center issued 2,670,000 food packages for the most vulnerable categories of Donbas population and IDPs, and 180,000 children packages for infants under two years old.
"During eight months we send humanitarian aid to Donbas practically every week. Each convoy consists of 30 heavy trucks at average. Humanitarian situation in Donetsk and towns in the region is consistently bad. After blocking of commercial loads with food products, the prices for food have escalated and become 30% higher than average Ukrainian ones. Against the unavailability of social payments and impossibility to arrange permits to Ukraine the situation for the most vulnerable citizens is really catastrophic. The only salvation for them in this situation is humanitarian aid. That is why Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center continues its work. In April the schedule of aid delivery is more intensive, two convoys per week", Grigory Koldunov, Director of Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center, comments.
In April Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center is planning to deliver 500,000 survival kits and 30,000 children kits for Donbas civilians. For this matter 10 convoys will be sent to Donbas during the month: 8 of them will be sent to Donetsk and 2 will arrive in Mariupol. The aid is aimed for civilians, residing in ATO area, along the contact line and to the benefit-entitled categories of IDPs, residing in government-controlled areas of Donbas.
