200,000 children packages were provided to Donbas babies from Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center
As of May 12, 2015, Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center issued 201,469 children packages to families with children under 2 years old, who live in Donetsk and Luhansk regions, and IDPs from Donbas. The issuance started in August 2014, when the first convoy of Humanitarian Aid Drive was sent to Donbas to deliver food for civilians.
During this period humanitarian aid was provided free in more than 60 issuing points of Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center in government-controlled territories, ATO area and on the contact line.
From August, 2014 till May, 2015, 173,953 children packages were issued on non-government-controlled territories.
Families from towns and settlements on the contact line received 5,038 children packages.
Internally-displaced families from Donbas with children under 2 years old, who moved to government-controlled areas, received 22,478 children packages.
Children packages from Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center are subdivided by their content into two groups, depending on child's age: from 0 to 1 year old, and from 1 to 2 years old. The packages contain vegetable and fruit purée, baby formula and porridges, semolina and oat flakes.
"There are more than 40,000 children from 0 to 2 years old in the ATO area. Since mid-October, 2014 at the initiative of Rinat Akhmetov we launched "Let's Help Children" program, under which the Humanitarian Center in cooperation with Shakhtar Football Club volunteers issues children packages. This aid covers practically all children of this age in non-government-controlled areas. During the whole period of its activity Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center issued over 200,000 children packages for little Donbas residents both in government-controlled territory and ATO area. Our children packages, containing good quality baby food from Ukrainian producers, allow providing the appropriate nutrition even for a newborn child. This program of help for our young countrymen is very important for Rinat Akhmetov and the Humanitarian Center. We understand how difficult it is to give a birth and to provide for a child in war time. We hope that our food baskets will help the children to grow up healthy in peaceful and happy Donbas", – Rimma Fil, Coordinator of the Humanitarian Center, says.
This week two convoys of the 19th Humanitarian Aid Drive will deliver food products to Donetsk and Mariupol to form 17,000 children packages.
In total in May Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center is planning to deliver to Donbas 42,000 children packages for families with children under 2 years old from Donetsk and Luhansk regions, living on both sides of the contact line.
