08.10.2024

On October 3-4 in Pushcha Congress Hotel in Kyiv, a meeting of members of the Ukrainian Child Rights Network (UCRN) was held to mark the anniversary of the organisation's establishment.

The UCRN was established in 2014 by a group of civil society and charitable organisations to strengthen the protection of children's rights in Ukraine. Currently, the Ukrainian Child Rights Network comprises 33 organisations The Network was established to consolidate efforts and improve coordination between charitable and civil society organisations for effective work on child rights protection. The UCRN leadership invited all members to meet in an informal setting to share experiences, achievements and celebrate the anniversary together.

During the meeting, representatives of each of the member organisations had the opportunity to present the main areas of their activity and share the results they had achieved. Members of the network shared their professional experience and ideas on how to strengthen cooperation and make the network's work even more effective and productive.

Representatives of Rinat Akhmetov Foundation also presented the main areas of activity and shared their achievements in recent years. In particular, they spoke about the importance and demand from the society for the developed guide for expectant parents "Steps to a Child" and the videos based on the guide, videos about foster families and the psychological self-help guide for teenagers entitled "Time to Take Care of Yourself", etc.

In addition to business communication, the members of the UCRN had an informal conversation about the tense life during the war, about fatigue and stress, shared tips that help to be resourceful and continue their path to change for the better future of our children. The participants embodied the vision of this goal in a collage, in which each of them reflected a piece of their idea to demonstrate on the canvas how they see the future of Ukrainian children.

During the facilitated discussion, the members of the UCRN also worked on the priority areas of work for today, among which they highlighted scaling up the network's expertise, changing priorities of the authorities and updating the standards of social services. After identifying the priority areas of work, the partners identified and analysed their and strengths and weaknesses as a team in each area. The following strengths were noted, among other things: professional experience, positive image, representation in the regions, motivation, integrated approach and own research. Everybody agreed to list a lack of expertise and prompt response to team problem-solving as weaknesses.

Conclusion: in order to effectively move forward in the same direction and achieve positive results in our work, it is necessary to hold such meetings on a regular basis. After all, they help to determine the priorities for the future, strategic partners and extremely important social initiatives, the implementation of which will help to improve the situation in the field of child rights protection.
