Today is the International Doctors' Day

05.10.2020

Every year, the International Doctors' Day is celebrated around the world on the first Monday of October. Medicine has always been a priority for the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation. Recent projects have become particularly extensive. So, in 2019, by the personal decision of Rinat Akhmetov, the project 200 Ambulances for Ukraine was launched, which set new standards in the quality of rendering emergency care. Doctors in all regions of the country received 200 high-end ambulances from the Foundation. Three types of vehicles were transferred to regional clinics, city hospitals, and outpatient clinics in villages and remote communities: emergency vehicles for adult patients, neonatal resuscitation vehicles, and off-road ambulances. 200 special vehicles will allow doctors to save more than 1 million people annually. 200 Ambulances for Ukraine has become the largest private charity project relating to emergency medicine during the 28 years of independence.

"You gave me, an ordinary primary care doctor who worked in the village for 24 years, the opportunity to feel like a person once again. You gave me the opportunity to use a modern car, which I could not dream of even in my sweetest dreams!" Eduard Chuhai, physician of Kamianske Rural Outpatient Family Medicine Clinic, said about the project. The Foundation made it possible for a doctor and medical staff to come and see patients by a primary health care car using a Toyota Land Cruiser as a base.

In 2020, the world was devastated by the coronavirus pandemic. Rinat Akhmetov was the first to help the country and financed 300 million UAH to fight the coronavirus. The Rinat Akhmetov Foundation created the project Fighting COVID-19 in Ukraine and, thus, transferred 320,000 rapid tests, over 200,000 units of personal protective equipment to state hospitals and purchased 204 ventilators. The project was the Foundation's contribution to upgrade the Ukrainian healthcare system.

"This assistance allows us to significantly improve the quality of medical care and save the lives of our patients. On behalf of all the staff and patients, I would like to express my gratitude to the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation for such support, " Yulia Kushneryk, Acting Head Physician of Kramatorsk City Hospital No. 1, said.

Furthermore, the Foundation organized online training for doctors using ventilators and provided several hundred doctors who deal with the coronavirus with comfortable work clothes. It was individually tailored, taking into account the size of each doctor.

The Rinat Akhmetov Foundation's and its Founder's assistance to fight COVID-19  in Ukraine is unprecedented. Medical projects and programs of the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation are aimed not only at helping patients but also at systemic changes in healthcare. The changes that bring the quality of medical care to a new level and make the work of doctors more comfortable.
