Rinat Akhmetov presents new apartments to orphaned children from Avdiivka

30.06.2017

Four-year-old Oleksandra Dyka and 19-year-old Mykhailo Borysenko, whose parents were killed during shelling in Avdiivka, will live in the peaceful town of Pokrovsk now. Children already got the keys from the apartments that had been purchased for them by Rinat Akhmetov.

On May 13, 2017, due to direct hit of shell, Oleksandra and Mykhailo lost their parents and homes. Now they are being raised by their relatives. When Rinat Akhmetov found out about the tragedy, he decided to provide children with new housing that would be located in the safe town away from the contact line – Pokrovsk, Donetsk region.

The keys from new apartments were passed to the children by the Humanitarian Center's employees.

"Unfortunately nobody can give these children their parents back. But they should be surrounded with support and care. Assistance, provided by Rinat Akhmetov, will help them to recover from the loss of their loved ones faster and start a new life", – Oleksandr Vyshniakov, Director of the Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center, shared.

It took the Center two weeks to purchase apartments for Oleksandra and Mykhailo and execute all the required documents. Children and their relatives are already planning to move in.

"The pipes are good, the repair is great, everything is superb! We can start living here right away. The floor is very good too. Now I have a place to live. Further away from the war. This is the foundation for my future life. Now I need to bring furniture and refrigerator, the essential things, to this place. The apartment is well-repaired. We need to screw in some bulbs. There is gas and water supply here. I even lost the habit of having them. These conveniences are very rare for Avdiivka. The act of Rinat Akhmetov will change my life. I am so thankful for his help. Rinat Akhmetov is a good person, he doesn't leave people in trouble", – Mykhailo Borysenko shared.

Oleksandra Dyka also does not hide her joy from the fact that she will live in a peaceful town now: "There is a playground in the yard. I like it. I will be happy here. I'll see my friends every day. I made a new friend here, her name is Olia. I will live here every day and I won't leave this place. There is no war here".

The girl's grandmother, Zinaida Mezentseva, agrees with the child: "If the child likes it, grandmother likes it too. We thank Rinat Akhmetov for the attention, for his great help, especially to orphaned children".
