Rinat Akhmetov Foundation arranged a children's holiday at the Book Arsenal
On the final day of the exhibition "Book Arsenal", the main literary site of the country, the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation arranged for a children's holiday. Its participants were long-standing friends of the program "Say No to Orphanhood!". The families taking care of children from boarding schools, gathered to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the program, with the support of which more than 9,000 children have found their mothers and fathers.
The first surprise at the festival for the children and their parents was the acquaintance with Radna Sakhaltuyev, the animation director of cartoons "Doctor Powderpill", "Treasure Island", the co-author of "The Adventures of Captain Vrungel" adored by both children and adults. The master told about creation of animated paintings and illustrations for books. The meeting lasted more than an hour, the children did not want to let the animator go. Radna Filippovich drew cartoon characters to everyone in memory. The children and the adults watched in amazement when on a clean sheet of paper, as if by magic, appeared ingenious Vrungel and kind Powderpill, brave Jim and funny pirates.
The children could get acquainted with writers, they received books with donative inscriptions of the authors. Olga Drobysheva presented to each participant of the holiday not only beautiful, but also very useful book "Boom! 1000 and 1 turn". During the event the writer held a quiz for the children dedicated to the traffic rules.
The writer Irina Govorukha was the fairy of the children's holiday. She could find kind and important words for each child, signing the collection "The Sun Can not Shine Half". The book tells about children and teenagers with special needs. It tells how they could win out fate.
There is an important common topic in the stories of "special" children and protagonists of the photobook "Donbass and the Peaceful", a unique edition of the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation, presented at the "Book Arsenal". Its heroes had to overcome pain and suffering - from injuries, from loss of family members. However, they did not give up despite the young age.
"The book is a powerful and effective means encouraging people to think and making them feel compassionate. Therefore, the publication "Donbass and the Peaceful" appeared as an artifact, which the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation presented at one of the most significant events in the cultural life of Ukraine. "Donbass and the Peaceful" is about the children who were seriously injured and survived despite the forecasts of doctors. About the old people doomed to live on the front line. About the large families which had to abandon their homes. The mission of the Foundation is to reach out to everyone, telling the stories of the people. So that nobody stays indifferent to the tragedy that is currently happening in the east of Ukraine", said Roman Rubchenko, director of the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation.
During the meeting with the families visiting the holiday arranged by the Foundation Roman Rubchenko expressed hope that the children's acquaintance with the authors of the books will help them to really love reading. After all, no matter how interesting is pastime with gadgets, they can never replace the joy that real, "live" books bring.
