The Museum of Civilian Voices by Rinat Akhmetov Foundation signs a memorandum of partnership with The Museum of the History of the City of Kyiv
A memorandum of partnership between the Museum of Civilian Voices by Rinat Akhmetov Foundation and the Museum of the History of the City of Kyiv has recently been signed in the capital of Ukraine. The main goal of the cooperation between the museums is to spread knowledge about Russia's war of aggression in Ukraine among a large Ukrainian and foreign audience.
"We are joining forces to widely publicise the truth about the events of this war. The Museum of Civilian Voices has already collected almost 100,000 living stories of those who suffered from Russia's aggression in Ukraine. The mission we want to share with our partners is to prevent these testimonies from dissolving in time and space, to preserve them and pass them on to the world, historians, scholars, lawyers, and future generations. This is crucial for both establishing justice and preserving national memory," said Natalia Yemchenko, member of the Supervisory Board of the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation.
The parties agreed to partner in various formats: from joint projects and research to expositions, exhibitions, events and lectures in the offline space. They also discussed combining the scientific expertise of museums and mutual access to resources.
"The Museum of Civilian Voices is the best and largest museum in Ukraine of oral histories of Ukrainian civilians who went through the hell of war in the 21st century. This unique archive of first-person stories will be an organic addition to future projects at the Museum of the History of the City of Kyiv that we will implement together with The Museum of Civilian Voices for a wide audience today. Thousands of stories filled with the pain of loss and hope must be preserved and heard to prevent such tragedies in the future," said Diana Popova, director of the Museum of the History of the City of Kyiv.
The Museum of Civilian Voices by Rinat Akhmetov Foundation (https://civilvoicesmuseum.org/en) has been collecting, storing and sharing stories of Ukrainian civilians about their experiences during the war since 2014. The museum initiates joint efforts with Ukrainian and foreign educational institutions to ensure that current and future generations know and preserve the truth about Ukraine's experience.
The Museum of the History of the City of Kyiv is the largest museum association in the capital, consisting of 9 museum branches. The museum, which opened in 1979, presents various historical, artistic, educational projects and various aspects of the city's history, literature, science, art, and socio-political life.
