Convoy with humanitarian aid is stopped due to an incident. Statement of the Humanitarian Center
Today, on January 20, during inspection of humanitarian convoy by customs service at Novotroitske checkpoint, two drivers were found items forbidden for transportation.
We call upon law enforcement authorities to conduct an investigation and bring the perpetrators to justice promptly and openly. For one, the Humanitarian Center is ready to provide the maximum information that will speed up the investigation. The Center will cooperate with law enforcement authorities.
The Humanitarian Center considers transportation of prohibited items unacceptable. It is stipulated in the agreement between the Center and the carriers.
The Humanitarian Center officially submits an application to the law enforcement authorities.
We believe that the actions of the two drivers have jeopardized delivery of assistance to the most vulnerable - elderly people and children. We will do everything possible to have aid delivery resumed and the perpetrators punished.
We will inform about all the steps of the Humanitarian Center, aimed at prompt investigation and elimination of such accidents in the future. We will not let discredit this important humanitarian mission, which is really necessary for people.
