Last year, after the russians shelled Okhmatdyt, the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation promptly transferred a number of cutting edge devices for neurosurgical interventions to the main children’s hospital. This equipment is in great demand at the institution, because thanks to it, doctors perform not just complex, but unique surgeries for children.
One of them took place in the Okhmatdyt recently. The child’s illness is associated with deformation of the skull bones. She was diagnosed at two months old, but the surgery was scheduled when the child gained the necessary weight.
“I want to thank a lot to the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation. You help children, and we perform effective surgery. So this is our joint work,” emphasizes Pavlo Plavskyi, the Head of the Paediatric Neurosurgery Department at “Okhmatdyt.”
According to him, this equipment allows doctors to perform complex operations at a new qualitative level. Moreover, a number of interventions are impossible without it.
Two devices were involved in this operation.
One makes it possible to cut the bone very thinly. The other, for installing plates, allows you to reduce blood loss, surgery time, and risks to the child’s life, explains the paediatric neurosurgeon.

The transfer of equipment to Okhmatdyt is part of the Rinat Akhmetov - To Children program. Throughout the year, the program implements projects that comprehensively support children whose childhood was taken away by russian aggression. This includes treatment, rehabilitation, psychological support, etc.
After the russian terrorist attack in July 2024, the Foundation transferred it to Okhmatdyt. Owing to it, more than 4 thousand children will have the opportunity to undergo accurate diagnostics and life-saving surgeries every year. These are:
― neurosurgical instruments designed for the diagnosis and treatment of brain diseases;
― ultrasound equipment for more accurate diagnostics;
― piezo-ultrasound device for complex bone surgeries;
― a device for connecting bones to avoid repeated operations;
― electromyographic system, important for diagnosing neurological and muscle diseases;
― two modern resuscitation vehicles.
Over 5 million children have already received assistance from the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation. The program "Rinat Akhmetov - To Children". Help that gives tomorrow. https://akhmetovfoundation.org/news
