Second year of study under the project "Digital media in the universities”
October 9, 2012, Rinat Akhmetov's Foundation "Development of Ukraine" with Mohyla School of Journalism of NaUKMA opened the second year of the project "Digital media in the universities." The project is designed to give teachers of journalism of Ukrainian universities the knowledge and skills that are the foundation of journalism education in the world's top universities. Training takes place on a modular system for nine months, the trainers are university professors and practitioners from the media environment of the U.S., the UK and Ukraine.
Ten teachers from five universities in Ukraine, selected by competition in May will be trained under the project. They are representatives of Kharkiv, Chernivtsi, Sumy and Mariupol state universities, as well as the Ukrainian Catholic University. At the opening ceremony the Charity Foundation "Development of Ukraine" and universities signed a memorandum of cooperation. The Foundation has made a commitment to train professors, and the management of the departments - to implement from the new academic year multimedia journalism course based on the project "Digital media in the universities."
In the 2011-2012 academic year the representatives of Kyiv, Lviv, Zaporizhia, Tavrichesky and Cherkasy universities received training under the project. This school year students of these universities will have the opportunity to receive knowledge on multimedia journalism, comparable with the best universities in the world.
