Children injured by war: special award of Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center
Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center presented special award for coverage of "Children injured by war" subject to Nina Hrushetska, the photographer. These are the results of a photo contest called "Charity in Focus", organized by the Ukrainian Philanthropists Forum.
The author of the photo called "A Child?" captured a teenager from Plotyna village in Luhansk region. He is one of five children in the family. Their mother died, and no one knows where the father is. Children are raised by grandmother.
"Children have always been the focus of Rinat Akhmetov charity. Assistance to his young compatriots became a big and important part of his work and the Center's operation. War is the most terrible thing that can happen to children, and it will be a great tragedy if it remains in their heritage. Children and war are two incompatible concepts. That's why the Center decided to participate in the contest and draw attention to this problem one more time", ‒ Rimma Fil, the Coordinator at Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center, shares.
Over 2.5 years the Humanitarian Center issued 835,000 children food packages, helped with medical treatment of 3,322 kids and provided psychological assistance to 49,921 children.
Also, as part of "Charity brings hope to children" nomination the prize was given to the photographer Danylo Pavlov and his work "Forget the war". The photo was taken in summer camp, which hosted kids as part of "Peaceful Summer for Donbas Children" program of Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center. Working with psychologists, children painted their fears and could not hold back their tears, remembering their war-struck hometowns.
