250 children from ATO area and IDPs have already spent their vacation in children summer camp in Berdiansk. Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center is launching the second shift
Today, on July 25, the first shift in Fakel summer camp, organized by Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center and aimed for health improvement of Donbas children, has come to an end. 250 children, both IDPs and living in non-government-controlled areas, have already spent their summer vacation on the seashore. 250 more kids will have rest and improve their health during the second shift, which starts tomorrow, on the 26th of July.
The summer vacations for children are implemented within the Humanitarian Center's program "Peaceful summer for Donbas children", owing to which 2,700 will have a chance to get a free vacation. 500 of them will improve their health in Fakel summer camp in Berdiansk, and 2,200 children, who cannot cross the contact line and go the peaceful territories, will attend children summer centres in Donetsk, Yenakiieve, Komsomolske and Khartsyzk.
"Rinat Akhmetov announced the launch of the program "Peaceful summer for Donbas children" more than a month ago. The demand for children summer vacations was huge. We received thousands of applications, both for vacations in Fakel and children summer centres. Children are tired of the military conflict, they miss their carefree childhood and fun. Our main goal is to get them distracted from war, recover their psychological state, and return their childhood at least for a while"– Iryna Sobol, the Program Coordinator at Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center, comments.
Children, who stayed in Fakel during the first shift, are leaving it with sadness. They found new friends here, had a good time and learned new things. They wanted this shift to last forever. "Resting is not the major thing for us. The most important is to hide from war. And not hear the shooting. To live in a quiet place", - the teenagers from Avdiivka share. "We like that there is no war here, and people are friendly and not fighting" - a little girl, their little compatriot, adds.
