05.04.2022

From 24 February to 4 April 2022, SCM businesses, the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation and Shakhtar Football Club donated about UAH 1.4 billion or almost USD 48 million to help Ukraine and Ukrainians. In particular, this amount included the humanitarian aid to civilians (food, medicines, some basic necessities, evacuation, shelters, etc.), as well as support for the Armed Forces of Ukraine and territorial defence units in dozens of cities (clothing, personal protective equipment, first aid kits, etc.).

Each of Rinat Akhmetov’s businesses, his Charitable Foundation and FC Shakhtar are doing everything possible to help people, cities and the state stand ground in the war with russia. In order for as many people as possible to receive and feel this help, its profiles and scope are identified in coordination with the central and local authorities.

Thus, in the first days of the invasion, SCM provided UAH 100 million to the territorial defence units of Kyiv. In addition, Metinvest has prepared about 6,000 beds for IDPs, and is now providing them with basic necessities. Using its steel, Metinvest has manufactured and handed over to our defenders about 40,000 antitank “hedgehogs”, as well as thousands of steel plates for bulletproof vests. The Group purchases protective equipment for the Ukrainian Armed Forces and territorial defence units to the amount of UAH 345 million.

DTEK supplies electricity free of charge to healthcare facilities, military, law enforcement agencies, and bread producers in Kyiv city, in Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk regions. In March alone, it supplied electricity to the amount of UAH 32 million. DTEK also provided almost 300 tons of coal for Ukrzaliznytsia’s evacuation trains and 100 tons for local communities’ needs.

Since the outbreak of the full-scale war, the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation has provided more than 500,000 units of medicines and more than 60,000 food assistance packages to Ukraine. The humanitarian aid from the Foundation will help 720,000 people survive.
