The Rinat Akhmetov Foundation purchased another 20,000 coronavirus tests for emergency doctors

04.05.2020

Another cargo with rapid tests to detect COVID-19, purchased by the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation for the country, has arrived in Ukraine. The batch of 20,000 diagnostic test kits to detect coronavirus is intended for emergency doctors.

"It is the emergency teams that first respond to patients with suspected coronavirus. They are people at higher risk, thus their protection is a priority. The tests will be distributed among regional emergency medical care and disaster medicine centers in Chernivtsi, Ivano-Frankivsk, Ternopil, Rivne, Vinnytsia, Lviv and Zhytomyr. The total number of medical workers who work there is about 10,000," Natalia Yemchenko, a member of the Supervisory Board of the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation, said.

The Foundation transferred 200 specially equipped vehicles that are perfect for off-road conditions to state medical institutions as part of "200 Ambulances for Ukraine" project. It is the first time in 28 years of the Ukrainian independence to have received such assistance with Rinat Akhmetov being the only philanthropist who provided medical workers with a number of super-modern ambulances. Medical workers received 114 "intensive care units on wheels", 64 off-road vehicles and 22 neonatal vehicles equipped with Italian ventilators. Today, many of these ambulances are used to combat the epidemic across the country. The Foundation keeps contact with the medical staff working on these vehicles on a regular basis and takes care of their safety under the conditions of the epidemic.

The Rinat Akhmetov Foundation also focuses on the purchase of personal protective equipment for Ukrainian medical workers. A unique isolation mobile box to transport infectious patients, a protective biological and chemical suit, protective disposable coveralls, multi-layer respirators, protective masks and goggles have already been purchased and transferred to the Ministry of Health.

The Foundation previously purchased and transferred 300,000 tests to detect the coronavirus to the main state hospitals. They have already been delivered in the regions.
