Preserving the Family for a Child project

Implementation years: 2010-2014

The project’s mission was to reduce the number of orphans and children deprived of parental care in Donetsk. The Rinat Akhmetov Foundation implemented the practices of early identification of families who found themselves in difficult life circumstances and were unable to overcome them on their own.

The Foundation provided support to Sun City crisis center, and helped Caritas Donetsk and Martin Club, a charitable organization and a civil society organization working with families.

For the duration of this project, over 200 social workers in Donetsk and the region were trained in European technologies of working with families. Social workers provided services and assistance to more than 2000 families raising children. Thanks to this project, parents were able to restore their rights and 75 children returned to their families from boarding schools in the Donetsk Oblast.

In July 2013, the Foundation prepared and disseminated four thousand manuals for specialists in the social sector on the practical work with families. Every region of Ukraine received these scientifically substantiated methodological guidelines.
