Digital Media for Universities project

Implementation years: 2011-2015

This project, implemented jointly with National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, was aimed to create quality high education in journalism, which could meet the demand from new media.

A program teaching modern knowledge in the field of multimedia journalism, consisting of eight academic modules and covering all fields of knowledge necessary to teach journalism (multimedia journalism teaching methodology, how to write texts for various platforms, how to work with audio and video editing packages, how to build work in convergent editing), was created as part of this project.

Every year, the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation selected ten lecturers from Ukrainian universities which had the faculty or department of journalism and sent them to advanced training courses. Coaches for the project’s participants included lecturers from the world’s leading universities and media schools, and also, practicing journalists from Ukraine, the United States, the United Kingdom and Spain.

This project helped create strong journalism schools at the leading Ukrainian universities and allowed to start broad preparation of journalists who can meet today’s requirements of the media industry.
