Peaceful summer for Donbas children: acceptance of applications is over

25.07.2016

On July 22, Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center finished the registration for its program called "Peaceful Summer for Donbas Children - 2016". In August 500 children will go to summer camps for health improvement.

The program is aimed at children of 8-14 years old living in non-government-controlled areas and "grey zone" of Donetsk region. First of all, these are children from large or one-parent families and those, who couldn't participate in the program last year.

"Upon the request of parents we prolonged the application acceptance period and also increased the age of kids, who can participate in "Peaceful Summer for Donbas Children" program.  Two thirds of the applications came to us from the towns in non-government-controlled areas. Despite the difficulties with crossing the contact line, parents are striving to provide their children with summer vacation. For many children this is the only possibility to catch a break and forget about the war. And the Humanitarian Center will be glad to help with it", ‒ Iryna Temerko, the Head of "Targeted Assistance" direction at Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center, shares.

In August there will be two shifts opened in Albatros camp (Strilkove settlement, Kherson region) and one shift in Soniachnyi camp (in the centre of recreation area of Sviatohirsk). In addition to the major entertainment program, children will be having classes and consultations with psychologists aimed at stabilization and improvement of mental and emotional condition of the child, anxiety reduction and development of communication skills.
