Lviv Veterans Hospital received a ventilator from the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation
The Rinat Akhmetov Foundation and DTEK delivered a modern ventilator to Lypa Lviv Regional Hospital of Disabled War Veterans and Former Political Prisoners. This is a high-end medical equipment manufactured by Air Liquide Medical Systems SA (France).
"The Foundation purchased 200 ventilators the framework of the program program Rinat Akhmetov – Saving Lives. 32 devices were delivered to Ukraine at the beginning of June and are now being transferred to main state hospitals in the regions. This is the largest batch of ventilators brought to the country since the coronavirus epidemic began. They were received by healthcare institutions in Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Donetsk and Luhansk Oblasts, as well as Kryvyi Rih and Kharkiv. 200 ventilators are part of another large-scale project of the Foundation, designed to increase the level of emergency care in Ukraine," Natalya Yemchenko, member of the Supervisory Board of the Foundation, said.
Deputy Chairman of the Lviv Regional State Administration, Ivan Sobko, in his turn, thanked for the support of the region:
"Doctors commit to taking care of patients. The situation is stable and under control, but the number of patients indicates that COVID will remain with us for a long time. Thus, our task is to prevent people from dying. It is, however, easier for us to have reliable partners, such as the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation. It does not use words and slogans but really helps with high-quality equipment that saves lives. We really appreciate this."
His words were backed by the Chairman of the Lviv Regional Council, Oleksandr Hanushchyn:
"This is the seventh ventilator transferred by the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation and DTEK. They are critical, since the number of patients is increasing drastically. COVID doesn't back down. Therefore, thank you very much."
The certificates to receive the ventilators were handed over to the Director of the Hospital Maksym Prykupenko by CEO of DTEK Zakhidenergo, Oleh Tarashchuk.
"The situation with the coronavirus remains difficult both in Ukraine and in our region. And only by combining all efforts can we achieve the result we all want to see. In April, we transferred to Lviv Oblast almost 35,000 rapid tests to diagnose the virus, as well as protective overalls for medical professionals. Last week, we delivered were six ventilators, and today — another device manufactured by Air Liquide Medical Systems SA, France," Oleh Tarashchuk said.
According to Maksym Prykupenko, 155 patients are currently undertaking treatment in the facility. Consequently, medical equipment is especially needed:
"Ventilators are great support. Most patients are admitted in a fairly serious condition, thus, such devices are needed to provide oxygen therapy."
In addition, the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation awarded certificates to receive medical clothing for employees of the intensive care unit who contact with those infected with coronavirus. You just need to use the QR code and specify the desired size.
Moreover, the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation constantly provides necessary assistance to the medical professionals in Lviv Oblast in the fight against the coronavirus infection. Thus, 8,000 protective suits and almost 35,000 COVID-19 rapid tests, 30,000 of which are intended for patients, and about 5,000 for emergency physicians, were transferred to the regional main hospitals.
Fighting COVID-19 in Ukraine is a large-scale project of the Foundation created to help save people's lives. It is implemented within the framework of the program Rinat Akhmetov – Saving Lives. Earlier, Rinat Akhmetov launched 200 Ambulances for Ukraine, which was implemented as part of this program. Back then, all regional state medical institutions received 200 special vehicles with state-of-the-art military equipment that can get over off-road conditions within the record time of six months. Moreover, 22 vehicles equipped with ventilators for newborns were also delivered. This is the largest contribution made by one philanthropist to the state medicine of Ukraine since our country became independent. These days, many of these ambulances are involved in the fight against the coronavirus epidemic.
