Ivano-Frankivsk Region receives 10,000 coronavirus rapid tests from the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation and DTEK

09.04.2020

10,000 diagnostic test kits will be delivered to the main hospitals of Ivano-Frankivsk Region. Today, the freights with rapid tests to detect coronavirus from the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation has already been delivered to Nadvirna and Burshtyn.

According to Natalia Yemchenko, a member of the Supervisory Board of the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation, tests are crucial in the fight against the spread of COVID–19.

"Due to its geographical location, Ivano-Frankivsk Region was on the forefront against coronavirus. Therefore, it is in dire need of support. The Rinat Akhmetov Foundation, DTEK and other SCM assets help the regional headquarters combat the epidemic primarily by purchasing the most important items: tests and medical equipment. Today, purchase and delivery of any medical supplies and equipment is a separate complex task. Indeed, there is a total shortage required to overcome the pandemic on the world market. The counties are competing in a real race. The Foundation is persistently overcoming obstacles, solving these tasks and delivering the necessary supplies to Ukraine in batches," Natalia Yemchenko said.

Oleksandr Voronkin, a SCM representative at the coronavirus regional headquarters, said that the most urgent needs of the region in the fight against the spread of coronavirus and to help those who received complications from COVID-19 were determined in close coordination with the governor, regional headquarters and representatives of the community.

"We are convinced that we may only solve the problems that Ukraine faces in this emergency through joint efforts. Back in February, Rinat Akhmetov was the first in the country to respond to the threat and pooled all his assets for operational assistance by sending 300 million UAH for this purpose. DTEK signed Memorandum to support the initiatives of communities and regions where our companies operate. Ivano-Frankivsk Region is among them. We will continue to support the region in this fight, especially now," Oleksandr Voronkin said.

Accepting the charitable transfer certificate for rapid tests from the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation, Vitalii Fedoriv, Acting Head of the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional State Administration, noted that the region is among the most disadvantaged in terms of the epidemiological situation. According to official data, fifteen people died from the coronavirus here. Rapid tests are the fastest way to detect COVID-19, so any help from the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation and DTEK is very important for the region.

"We are now paying a lot of attention to early diagnosis as it can make treatment fast and effective. It is great that business is involved in the fight against coronavirus helping the state in this matter. I am really grateful to Rinat Akhmetov for his support. Rapid tests we are receiving will be promptly transferred to 11 medical institutions in the region that treat and counteract coronavirus infection," Vitalii Fedoriv said.

As personally decided by the Founder, the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation purchased 300,000 rapid tests to detect coronavirus for Ukraine and transferred them to the President-sponsored Stabilization Foundation. Ivano-Frankivsk Region was the fifth region to receive a batch of these tests. Prior to that, the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation transferred the tests to state hospitals in Kharkiv, Donetsk, Luhansk and Zaporizhzhia Regions.

Rinat Akhmetov sent 300 million UAH to fight COVID-19. To help Ukraine, he combined all the resources: the Charitable Foundation, FC Shakhtar, DTEK, Metinvest and other SCM assets.

Back in February, Rinat Akhmetov was the first in the country who gave directions to the Foundation to respond to the global threat of a coronavirus epidemic. The equipment to effectively treat the complications caused by COVID-19 – the Swedish SERVO-I UNIVERSAL and SERVO AIR high-end ventilators and oxygen concentrators – has already been purchased and transferred to the Ministry of Health.

In particular, ventilators from the Foundation have been installed in the Poltava Regional Infectious Diseases Hospital, Rivne Central City Hospital and Zakarpattia Regional Hospital. The named hospitals in Poltava and Rivne also have oxygen concentrators for ventilators installed. A separate concentrator from the Foundation was delivered to the Volyn Regional Infectious Diseases Hospital. The number of medical facilities that have already received equipment from the Foundation was determined by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.

The Foundation also purchased personal protective equipment for Ukrainian doctors: EgoZlin biobag EBV – a unique insulating mobile box to transport infectious patients; EOBO-20 EgoZlin – a protective biological and anti-chemical suit with filter and ventilation set; anti-chemical disposable overalls; infrared thermometers with a laser pointer; multilayer respirators;  protective masks and goggles.

Another 22 ventilators were installed in neonatal ambulances and transferred by the Foundation to all regions of the country as part of the “200 ambulances for Ukraine” project.

The Rinat Akhmetov Foundation is also purchasing coronavirus sample analyzers with test cartridges for them.

In partnership with the Ministry of Digital Development, the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation created educational TV-series for teachers (“Quarantine: Online Services for Teachers”) and schoolchildren (“Digital Physical Education for Schoolchildren with Sport Stars”).  The video courses are posted on the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation's Facebook page and Youtube channel.

Jointly with TRK Ukraina, the Foundation created social videos urging older people to comply with the rule of thumb during the quarantine – Stay at Home. The TRK Ukraina TV-presenters and the ambassadors of the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation – Ihor Pupkov, Oleh Paniuta, Hryhorii Herman, Oleksii Sukhanov and the famous journalist Savik Shuster – engage in the videos hag tagged #ParentsATHOME.
