17.06.2020

On 16 June, the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation and FC Shakhtar transferred two Monnal T75 ventilators manufactured by Air Liquide Medical Systems SA (France) to the doctors of Kharkiv Regional Clinical Infectious Diseases Hospital. At the time of the pandemic, this medical facility was granted the status of the reference hospital to deal with coronavirus.

"The Rinat Akhmetov Foundation purchased 200 ventilators for state hospitals. 32 devices were delivered to Ukraine in early June. It was the largest batch of such equipment imported into the country since the  quarantine began. This intensive care equipment will be crucial even years from now. It will also be necessary to deliver care and save patients  with serious medical conditions in all Ukraine. Coordinated by the Regional Headquarters that deal with the coronavirus situation, the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation distributed ventilators among main state  hospitals in six oblasts. Kharkiv Infectious Disease Hospital was included in this list," Natalya Yemchenko, member of the Supervisory Board of the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation, said.

Kharkiv is a special region for Rinat Akhmetov. When the trouble came to Donbass, this was the place where FC Shakhtar found its new home. Therefore, the equipment delivery ceremony was attended by the football player of the 'miners' (Shakhtar) team — Anatoliy Trubin.

"In Kharkiv, Shakhtar wins trophies, and we feel the support of the fans during the matches. We are grateful to them. I am glad that we all can now do a good deed for my home city  owing to Rinat Akhmetov. I am sure that these and dozens of other devices transferred by the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation throughout Ukraine will save many lives. The main thing is that all our fans would now stay at home, observe the quarantine and take care of their loved ones. Football with fans will soon return to the city, happy to see everyone at our games in Kharkiv," Anatoliy Trubin said.

Chairman of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration, Oleksiy Kucher, expressed his gratitude to the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation and FC Shakhtar for their help and spoke about the current situation with coronavirus in the region.

"What businessmen, Rinat Akhmetov Foundation and football players do is very important for us. We understand that our medicine would have probably collapsed  without the support of these active people. Thus, I am deeply grateful for your assistance. It is well-timed, as the infectious diseases hospital is full, and there are still quite a lot of people in intensive care unit.

Director of Strategy and Communication of FC Shakhtar Yuriy Sviridov, also pointed out feats of the doctors involved in the fight against the epidemic.

"On behalf of the Founder of the Foundation, Rinat Akhmetov, and FC Shakhtar I would like to express gratitude to the doctors who have done and continue to do incredible thing.s. When the whole world was quarantined, you bravely went to meet the danger. Overtime work, round-the-clock anxiety, professional challenges and constant need to wear personal protection equipment, in which it is hard to work or breathe. Like a shield, you have met this new virus. Please accept my sincere gratitude for your bravery in the battle against the coronavirus.

Director of the hospital, Pavlo Nartov said that the ventilators transferred by the Foundation are modern and will meet all the requirements of doctors in the fight against coronavirus.

"Ventilators are much needed. We have 162 patients with the confirmed coronavirus diagnosis as of now.

Medical professionals also received certificates for medical clothing as gifts. Doctors will be able to use the QR code to select the necessary custom-ordered clothing sizes.

Earlier, the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation and FC Shakhtar passed 20,000 rapid tests to detect COVID-19 in Kharkiv Oblast.

Doctors from Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kramatorsk, Kostiantynivka, Bakhmut Nadvirna, Starobilsk, Rubizhne and Kryvyi Rih have reportedly received ventilators from the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation. In total, 200 high-end units of the of this equipment will be transferred to state healthcare institutions.

Fighting COVID-19 in Ukraine is a large-scale project of the Foundation created to help save people's lives. It is implemented within the framework of the program Rinat Akhmetov – Saving Lives. Earlier, Rinat Akhmetov launched 200 Ambulances for Ukraine, which was implemented as part of this program. Back then, all regional state medical institutions received 200 special vehicles with state-of-the-art military equipment that can get over off-road conditions within the record time of six months. Moreover, 22 vehicles equipped with ventilators for newborns were also delivered. This is the largest contribution made by one philanthropist to the state medicine of Ukraine since our country became independent. These days, many of these ambulances are involved in the fight against the coronavirus epidemic.
